Ah, XM. You never let me down. This time I am thanking XM50-The Loft for introducing me to Resplendent by Vigilantes of Lo. Yes, as perfect as XM satellite radio is, my CR-V’s audio display truncated the band’s name. Google told me that Bill Mallonee was the front man to the Vigilantes of Love, which set me off on a search for more of their alt-country goodness.

How did I not know about this? Music lover that I am, I was totally floored when I “Stumbled” on the FoxyTunes Planet just now.

FoxyTunes Planet is a music aggregator. You do a search for an artist, you get a page with a summary of the artist, all the YouTube videos by the artist, similar artists on last.fm, Google search results, music on Rhapsody, albums on Amazon, tunes you can listen to on the Hype Machine, Pandora radio, Flickr[...]

I can’t stop playing the new Kaiser Chiefs album, Yours Truly, Angry Mob. Yeah, the blogosphere seems to give it second billing to the Chiefs first album Employment, but I disagree. I think it’s better.

…and it is amazing! First, Sam’s Town is inspired by Bruce’s Born to Run, now, Brandon Flowers is finding inspiration in Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Long live late 70’s rock! I am so buying tickets to their concert if they come to town…
Romeo & Juliet was from the Dire Straits’ release Making Movies. R&J and my other favorite song from that album are down in the box.
